Ministries: Outreach Ministries
Welcome to the Outreach Ministries
Prison Ministry
The prison ministry outreach of Friendship Baptist Church has been running strong for about 10 years now. Several laymen of the church take turns preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ at services held at Wake Correctional Center (WCC) twice a month. WCC is a minimum security prison off of Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh. Inmates of WCC voluntarily attend church services at 9 a.m. on the first 2 Sundays of each month. Services include singing of hymns, occasional testimonies from inmates, prayer requests, special music (sometimes provided by the inmates), and Bible preaching. The main goal of this outreach is to give a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ each time we visit. Over the years we have seen many souls come to Jesus Christ through this ministry. There are also many spiritually mature Christians within the inmate population that are a tremendous blessing and encouragement to each of us.
Rest Home
An area of service in which we can warm hearts and bless lives is the Assisted Living Ministry. Whether you play an instrument, sing, love to share a word of testimony or can be a friendly and good listener for folks who need it, there is a place for you in this outreach to the elderly or infirm. Those already involved agree that they receive the greater blessing themselves.
On the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. we are welcomed at Oak Leaf Village, an assisted living community nearby. Please contact the church office or Gene Kessler to answer questions or to volunteer to serve this ministry.
Visitation Program
On Thursday evenings we have Visitation. We welcome folks to the area, follow up on recorded visits to the church, and visit door to door to share the Gospel. We long to see folks saved, and touch lives for eternity! Come help us!
We meet at the church for prayer every Thursday at 7 p.m., then go visiting. Contact Gene Kessler about this ministry.
