Ministries: Latino Ministry
Latino Ministry
¡Buenos Días! If If you understood what I just said, you are not alone in Wake County. In fact, that greeting is used by a segment of our population that is growing faster than any other ethnic group in our area.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Hispanic population increased more than fivefold both in Raleigh and Wake County in the ten-year period from 1990 to 2000. During that same period, Wake County was rated as the second-fastest growing county in the nation in terms of growth of the Latino population. What is being done to reach this rapidly expanding Latino community with the Gospel? And what about the spiritual growth of those who already know Christ?
Latinos en la Luz, the Hispanic ministry of Friendship Baptist Church, is striving to do both, with solid Biblical teaching , fellowship , and good Gospel music every Sunday morning at 9:45. We believe that all people need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ no matter what language they speak. Moreover, all believers need to be shepherded into a closer walk with their Savior and strengthened in the faith. What better way is there than to be grounded in God's Word in your own language?
In addition to the Sunday school class, Latinos en La Luz offers other activities including an annual Fiesta Fabulosa (or Fabulous Feast), a wonderful Spanish dinner and time of fellowship with special music and a challenging, evangelistic message from a dynamic guest speaker.
